Resume
From a recruiter's perspective a resume should
be:
- Chronologically Developed
- In the following format:
- State the name of the company, position,
dates worked
- Give a synopsis of the company, with size
(sales), location, number of people, products or services,
and markets. Follow this with a description of your responsibilities
in great detail, including number of people supervised, areas
and scope of responsibility, equipment or systems used, to
whom you reported, and why you changed jobs or left the company.
- Under this information, in bullet fashion,
list “Select Accomplishments.” Try to provide
what YOU did, and what were the tangible results.
- Providing higher education and any significant
training experiences. Also list foreign language capability and
computer skills (list specific programs erg. Microsoft Excel,
Word, Powerpoint).
- A minimum of two pages, and more if applicable.
A recruiter can always remove content.
References
Download
the “Reference Sheet”
for a review of whom should be used for references. Always pre-screen
references to get their permission and review how they will respond.
A good approach is to ask the reference leading questions such as,
“how would you handle a company asking about my managerial
skill,” or “what would you consider my strengths and
weaknesses.” Download HERE.
(Must have a Microsoft Excel to view).
